 DATES: 5-day Rome Archaeological Study Program. 10-14 June 2019

STUDY LEADERS: Tom Rankin and chosen English-speaking colleagues, all Rome residents with expertise in archaeology.

COST: $1,500 per person, including instruction, lunches and one final dinner, entrance fees, activities, ground transport for excursions, and course materials. Lodging can be arranged upon request for an additional fee.

DESCRIPTION::

In partnership with the non-profit organization ISAR (The International Society for Archaeology, Art and Architecture of Rome ) which is dedicated to promoting the study, conservation and improvement of the cultural heritage of Rome, this five day educational program introduces participants to the archaeology and topography of Ancient Rome. 

The millennia-long history of Rome and the wealth of architectural heritage preserved here make it the perfect venue for an exciting week on the historical-topographical evolution of the city, from early historical time to the start of the middle ages. The five-day program will take place in Rome where, beginning with orientation sessions, students will spend the week attending exciting on-site lessons and thematic workshops.

• Make your travel plans independently, staying at the lodging of your choice, and join us daily for five custom-designed full and half-day sessions. 
• Organized chronologically, we will visit ancient sites in the city center and vicinity 
• Small groups of no more than twelve allow hands-one engagement with sites
• Gain special access to working archaeological sites and meet with top experts in Roman archaeology
• Take a one-day excursion to the port town of ancient Rome and the Mediterranean coast
• Enjoy engrossing on-site lessons most mornings and less structured time most afternoons to devote to workshops
• Take advantage of our expertise in helping plan free time activities (such as visiting the Vatican, choosing dinner venues and planning optional independent travel)
• Enjoy privileged access to underground sites, design workshops and panoramic vantage points.
